Quarter 1
This quarter in school I learned skills like comparing and contrasting past and present, when we were showing the problems that America and the Roman Empire both shared. I also learned problem solving , when we had finished identifying the problems Rome and American had we came up with community service project that would help fix that dilemma.
My goals for next quarter are to keep my A+ in all of my classes and continue to learn all of the skills and content I am taught.
Quarter 2
In this quarter I learned skills like annotating and analyzing text. We did this when we were reading and making notes on the first two chapters of Hunger Games the novel by Veronica Roth. I also learned about citing textual evidence by quoting articles and other text. I did this a lot in the character reflection on the novel Seedfolks. I would cite the evidence and give reasoning to my claim.
My goal for next quarter is to go to bed earlier on the weekdays so that I can be better rested for school. Also another goal I have is to do all of the projects we do in World Geography efficiently and well just like I have for the past quarter.
Quarter 3
This Quarter I learned skills on how to debate and how to find evidence for debates. In our GMO debate we were filling our many things to prep us for the debate such as the GMO benefits and concerns chart and the three questions for debate. To fill those our we researched on websites, textbooks, articles, and other resources that Ms. Lukins gave us. We learned how to respectfully debate and keep the conversations going when Ms.Sheldon's class came in and debated with us.
My goal for next quarter are to keep my straight As. Another goal I have for next quarter is to work hard to make sure that all of my citations from sources in my writing have been cited correctly with the period at the end and no punctuation errors.
Quarter 4
This Quarter I learned how to write an effective argumentative essay. To right a scholarly argumentative essay you must have an attention grabber, an intro paragraph, 3 body paragraphs (each with a citation from a credible source), and a conclusion paragraph. I also learned about misplaced modifiers. I saw how much it could effect your writing if you use modifiers incorrectly. Now looking at my writing after learning about misplaced modifiers I see all sorts of sentences that could be misinterpreted, but now I can fix them.
My goal for next year is to properly use commas throughout all of my writing in 8th grade. Another goal I have is to keep my straight As all the way through middle school.
