This is one of my favorite book reviews that I wrote on the book The Lost Hero by Rick Riordan. I really liked this piece because it was a summary that didn't give too much away, but still was enticing. I used a few different sentence types because we were learning them in class. I think that I did a good job implementing them into this book review. Enjoy the book review!
Summary:
Jason wakes up on a bus not knowing anything but his name. He finally figures out he has two friends, Piper, and Leo and ended up at Wilderness School for bad kids. They were going on a field trip when a massive storm hits sending out strange monsters. After fighting those off Jason, Piper, and Leo get whisked away to Camp Half Blood (a camp for kids that are half god half mortal). From there they find out who their godly parent is and get sent on a quest to retrieve Hera, the queen of the heavens. They must save her from Gaea (the queen of the earth) whom is planning on taking over the world with her super powerful monster she made. Meanwhile, Jason is questioning his past; he knew he must be in the right spot, but it didn’t seem right. He used the Roman gods names and spoke latin. Also Piper’s dad is being held for ransom by a giant, will she ever see her dad again? On top of that Leo reveals to everyone that he has the ability to make fire with his bare hands, he is also resistant to it. He later also reopens a deep wound from his past.
Character Analysis:
I find it interesting that Piper is a daughter of Aphrodite and she is still a cool brave person. Most of the children of Aphrodite in the previous books have been petty and useless to the things going on around them. I find it cool that she stands up for herself and makes herself useful even though her kind has a bad reputation.
Rating: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
I give this 5 stars because it is an action packed super funny book. I really enjoy how they teach you history and myths while making it fun for our age.

This is my favorite book review of the second quarter. This book is part of a trilogy this being the first book. As you can see in my rating I really love this book. It's my favorite book if not one of them. I finished this book in a matter of a few days. I warn you to find a day you have some time to read Divergent because you won't be able to put it down. What I learned from this book is that you need to be brave. By being brave you can help others and yourself get through the toughest times. I hope you enjoy this book review!
Title: Divergent
Author: Veronica Roth
Pages: 487
Summary: The novel Divergent is about a dystopian futuristic world where the United States is split up into five factions. They are Dauntless (the brave), Erudite (the intelligent), Candor (the honest), Amity (the peaceful), and Abnegation (the selfless). When the you turn 16 you are forced to choose your one of the five personalities and your new identity. There is a test to provide some suggestions on which faction you should choose. When you join your new or old faction, there is a test to see if you can get in. If you fail you become factionless, (basically living like a homeless person, but with you have to do all of the jobs no one wants to do) which is considered worse than death to some. to see if Tris, was born and raised in Abnegation and is unsure of her future especially after the test results showed that she belonged in multiple factions, meaning she is divergent. Being divergent is dangerous but Tris doesn’t know why at first. When the choosing day comes she chooses to be dauntless. This is a huge deal because there is only one other person ever that has switched from Abnegation to Dauntless.During the test to get into Dauntless Tris is put to her physical and emotional extent. When she finally becomes a Dauntless member things don’t get much better. Erudite turned out to be an evil faction and they try to take over the government and want to rule all. They brainwash the Dauntless whom already know how to fight and make them kill all of the other factions off. Turns out the only ones not affected by this brainwashing serum are the Divergents. Will Tris be able to save the United States from being ruled by the evil Erudites? Read the book to find out.
Connection: I can connect this to the book The Hunger Games because it has the same idea of the futuristic dystopian place and the United States being split up. They both have People fighting against each other and the rebellion against the government theme.
Rating:🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
I give this book five stars because it had a lot of action and a great plot. I like the humor, bravery, and courage shown by the characters. I think that all of the unexpected plot twists and cliffhangers really made this book enticing and suspenseful. I really liked this book because I finished it in two days and am super eager for the next one. This book definitely earns five stars.

I chose the GMO benefits and concerns chart show how far I've come in citing evidence now. When I first started citing evidence I was unsure of how many periods to put and where the comas a parentheses went. Now I am able to make a full chart on all of the GMO research I did with perfectly cited evidence and strong arguments. Not only did I cite evidence I also learned a lot about GMOs and how there is really not just one right answer necessarily about if GMOs are good or bad. There were multiple things that I found on the topic about how GMOs could possibly be the next best thing to save us or could cause years of damage to fix later.
My favorite part about doing the misplaced modifier activity was making the picture for the sentence with the misplaced modifier. It was fun to show how an incorrect modifier could cause the sentence to change quite a bit from the original meaning. Making this picture really tested my cropping skills as well because everything on here came on a white background. After doing this project I came to a big realization when I found that in my everyday speech and writing these misplaced modifiers were happening all the time. I think that correcting all of my misplaced modifiers would take me one step closer to perfecting my writing.
